COMPETITION PROCESS

  1. After you apply and are accepted for your state pageant, you will receive the registration materials to officially register to enter the state pageant.
  2. During the state pageant weekend, you will participate in the categories of evening gown, interview, and swimwear.
  3. If you take home the state crown, not only will you have a year full of philanthropic and professional opportunities, but you will also be one of the 51 states competing on a Live stage.

COMPETITION RULES

The winner of the competition must be confident. She must understand the values of our brand and the responsibilities of the title. She must have the ability to articulate her ambition. A delegate should demonstrate authenticity, and credibility and exhibit grace under pressure. The women who compete embody the modern, global aspiration for the potential within all women.

Each competition begins with preliminary interviews that include a swimsuit or athletic wear and evening gown presentation show. These preliminary events are especially important as it will be the first time the judges and fans really get to know the delegates. The preliminary competition is the driving force in selecting the Semifinalists.

The live show and final competition kick off with an announcement of the Semifinalists. Each of these delegates will walk the runway during the swimsuit or athletic wear segment displaying her dedication to a healthy lifestyle.

The semifinalists move on to the second stage of the competition during the evening gown segment. The judges and fans will see the delegates’ personal style as they walk the stage in their evening gown of choice. However, the exact design of the gown does not count towards the total score and instead the judges focus on how confidently each woman presents herself.

From the scores given in the evening gown competition, the Top 6 competitors are chosen, bringing them to the Final Question round. Each woman selects a judge at random who presents a question focused on various social, cultural and political topics. The Final Question round will determine the contestant’s ability to articulate themselves under pressure while sharing a thoughtful, well-informed response. Again, all scores are averaged and the Top 3 contestants move on to the Final Look.

The event concludes with the host announcing the winner. In the event that the winner is unable to fulfill her duties, the first-runner up will take her place.

It’s important to remember being Crown Holder is a full time job, a multi-faceted job that provides her many life-shaping opportunities.  Typically Winner will travel the world and make appearances; she will lend her voice to help those in need; represent our sponsors and be an overall spokesperson for the FLC Organization.  In selecting a Winner, we ask our selection committee, typically comprised of accomplished business leaders, philanthropists and public figures, to look for a young woman who is comfortable in her own skin, authentic, empathetic, and determined to make her mark in the world.  In preparing for the competition (and life!) we advise all participants to reflect upon who they are and what their passions are.  Be engaged with your community and always seek to push your personal envelope and live outside your comfort zone.

After a winner is crowned, she will meet her new FLC Organization family. Through the organization, the winner is provided a platform for possibility based on her objectives for the 3-6 Months. Alongside the FLC Organization, she will plan how to achieve her goals on the national and global scale.

The host sites for the competitions are selected based on several factors including city infrastructure and the venue's capabilities for production.
